Sheepish chee ko pek look

picture taken on 4th February 2008
Isaac @ 2 days to 6 months

Hehehhee... we thought this was quite a cute picture of Isaac. He has the just-wake-up-look (see his eyes, one big one small), plus that sheepish smile... gives him a cheeky chee ko pek look! hahaha...

At the time of this picture in early February, Isaac could sit up like that if propped against something. But he wasn't very steady as yet - would still topple over.

But how time flies and babies grow! As of today, Isaac can sit without problem, from sitting, get into a crawling position, crawl on fours (very quickly at that! - oh, and he skipped the leopard crawl stage), from sitting to standing, from being on all fours to a standing position, and he knows how to pull himself to a standing position by 'climbing' on things...

In other words - I have many videos to post ;p

So as you can see, am trying to accelerate and catch up on posting as fast as I can! :) Stay tuned!

Classic wooden chair

I actually bought this classic wooden chair 4 years ago, when Rebecca was just born. But Becca hardly sat in it coz she started to climb out of the chair when she sat in it, so it was too dangerous to let her sit in it. So we brought it back home.

Dunno why Isabelle never sat in it though... hmmm... think maybe coz the chair was in my house hahaha...

Anywayz, we have since brought the chair to my parents-in-law's place. Isaac likes the chair and he can be happy in it for awhile. So it's a good place to put him in sometimes. And think my MIL puts him in the chair when she feeds him his porridge. Good chair!

"Hand Exercising" video

There was one night, when we were at the petrol station - hubbs had gone out of the car to pay for the petrol etc. but I stayed in the car with Isaac. I had decided not to take him out and go to the minimart coz he was fine with sitting in the car seat.

Then I noticed that he was looking at his hand, then waved his fingers a little, then put his fingers into his mouth for a few seconds, then he took them out, looked at them, waved fingers a little then popped back into his mouth again and he repeated this sequence like at least 5 times!

So I quickly whipped out me trusty Lumix and caught it on video below :)

It's quite amusing - I mean, like, what is he doing!?!? hahaha... I didn't know what to call it, so I called it the "hand exercising video". The "hand tenderizer video" did cross my mind. It's as though he was "preparing" his fingers for him to taste them! hahaha...

The video catches him in action... then suddenly, he realises that I am looking at him and taking a video of him - so he falters a little... but then he picks up the routine again... hahaha... see vid!

Isaac & Carrie

Isaac & friends: Carrie

This is Isaac and Carrie. Carrie is about a month younger than Isaac.
This is the second time they are meeting. The first time they met was when Carrie was about a week old - I was done with my confinement and brought Isaac along to see Carrie and her Mummy :)
Here they are playing together. Carrie was watching Isaac - trying to learn how he flips himself over! See, she was already very good at holding her head up from tummy time with her mummy!
Wanna read more about Carrie? Visit her blog! :) Oh and here is the post in Carrie's blog that features Isaac! (yes, as usual, I'm soooo late in my posting! ;p) In fact, I am sooo late in my postings, that by now, carrie has learnt to flip already! hahahaa... go see more adventures of Carrie in her blog!

Isaac as of 27th Jan 2008

This is Isaac still with a bit of just-wake-up look...
And this is Isaac the contortionist. He'd like to twist himself like that in order to look at us or the camera. Friends who have seen my own contortionist antics all say that Isaac is taking after me! hahaha... if you haven't seen my contortionist antics - ask me the next time you see me, and I can show you! kekeke...
And here're more pix of laughy, cheeky Isaac! :)

Isaac & Papa time!

Here's Isaac with his Papa! Isaac loves to spend time with his Papa. Coz his Papa has more energy and strength to play with him, throw him and swing him around...
... and Papa would take Isaac's hand and rub it on his stubbly chin and use his chin to rub into Isaac's tummy tum tum!!!
Papa has heart to heart and eye to eye talks with Isaac too. He tells Isaac to be a good boy, to drink finish his milk, sleep for a longer period of time, to not move his legs and not try to flip over when we're changing his diapers, and to not leak when he shits!

Weekend morning picture sessions

Yes, you might have noticed that we do take a lot of pictures of Isaac. But, no, we don't take them everyday. Coz I noticed that the photos turn out better if we take them in the daytime. So these pictures would have Isaac lounging around his bed... wearing his sheepish morning just-wake-up look. But the thing that always amazes us, is that he's very smiley, even when he just wake up. Even when we wake him up! ;p
He's usually very good about waking up before us on weekends - he'd just play on his own on his bed, flipping and rolling and now, crawling around...
till he gets bored and starts to 'call' us to play with him! hahaha... then we'd wake up and play with him :)

and start taking many many pictures of him! :) He even seems to recognise the camera and he'd smile at the camera! :)

Isaac & Ray

Isaac & friends : Ray

This is when Isaac and Ray first met. Both asleep, in their strollers. Though technically, they both met a long time ago when they were both inside their Mummy's tummies! hahahaha... picture above taken on 4th November 2007

Christine and I each got married in 2005, and we each delivered our firstborn in 2007, about 3 weeks apart. We'd great fun being pregnant together, and we're looking forward to letting the boys play and grow up together. I've been good friends with Christine and her hubby Cheng Nam since uni time, so it's great that we've kids around the same age! :)

As mentioned in previous posts, we like to catch up with friends over a meal as well (especially when they stay very far away... hahahha...) The above pictures were taken when we met up for the first time since Ray was born (coz Christine was in confinement when Isaac was born). And the pictures below were taken at our recent lunch in January this year.

I'm happy to say we've many friends and a number of relatives, who have babies/kids around the same time as us. It's great fun sharing experiences with each other, trading tips and tricks to handling the babies (and husbands ;p) and most of all - sharing together the joy of having kids.

Thus you would see in the posts to come, many more posts of Isaac and his friends! So envious! I don't think I had THAT many friends when I was first born - or rather, even before I was born! hahaha... But then again, I certainly had many more cousins than Isaac when/before I was born. I guess that's the importance of keeping in touch with friends as well, we can let the kids play together and grow up as firm friends, just like how we used to play with our cousins and grow up to be very close as well.

Isaac's 2nd haircut on 13th Jan 2008

Remember Isaac's first haircut in November 2007? Hubbs loved Isaac's botak head look so much, that he kept asking me to cut his head botak again for Chinese New Year (CNY)! Well, I agree that Isaac looks kinda cute botak heady like, but... he looks quite cute with his hair grown out also what, right? See below for the BEFORE shot...
Not bad, right? Quite cute, what. But then, even hubbs knows the power of nagging. So, finally, I caved in to his demands - BUT... I bargained for 2 things - that we were to cut a few weeks before CNY (hehehe so that his hair got 'chance' to grow out by CNY) and that we will not cut his hair as short as we did the first time. At that time, we cut till like 2mm short, now, I bargained for 1cm. Hubbs agreed to my conditions, so the road was paved for Isaac's 2nd hair cut! :)

We decided to cut at my mum's place, at the porch - kekeke easier to sweep the hair and we don't have to be super clean about it ;) Here's Isaac in the bumbo again, with a nice little hair-cutting-cloth-thingy around his neck - my mum's - donch know where she got it from (probably my Duah Ee who's very good at sewing all sorts of wonderful stuff).
Kekeke... Isaac's looking kinda uncomfortable and awkward think coz it was kinda hot out that afternoon, plus he was wearing the cloth thingy and we had just put lotsa powder on his neck thereabouts.
Then I started shaving away... He was alright for awhile - like, the duration it took to take these pictures. Then he started getting irritated coz of the heat, and struggled to get out of the bumbo chair. Thus hubbs had to carry him whilst I finished the haircut. I'd a bit of problem shaving his hair this time, coz he was sweating - so his hair stuck to his scalp! Making it kinda impossible for me to shave the back of his head!

Luckily, it turned out quite alright. See the AFTER photo below (taken a week after the haircut though - coz he was too frustrated for us to take his picture after the haircut the week before!)

Isaac as of 5th Jan 2008

We go out with Isaac quite a lot on weekends. We like to visit friends - as in, meet up with friends at their house, chit chat, play board games, drink wine (hubbs drink lah), listen to music etc... I guess hubbs and I are quite "people-persons" - we value our friendships and familyships. So we enjoy bringing Isaac to meet all these great, wonderful people we have in our lives. Sometimes we meet up with friends for breakfast/lunch/dinner as well. But we like best of all to go to someone's house... coz right now, with Isaac, being in a house of a friend is the most convenient place to "go out" to. Coz if Isaac needs to drink milk, I can simply go into a bedroom and feed him. If he needs to sleep, we can rock him to sleep in a bedroom with lights off, and let him sleep on the bed (then we can go out and play games or whatever hehehe)...

And nowadays, as Isaac is an expert with flipping and being on his tummy and crawling a little, he loves to just play on the bed. Like in these pictures! :) We're here at Ruth & Nick's house, so while we have our playback meeting, here's Isaac having a field time on the bed!

Isaac's Moo Moo time

Now, every morning, on a school day, we'd drop hubbs in school before I take over the wheel to send Isaac to my MIL's place, and then I go to work. Thus, I've to wake up at 6am *groan* to bathe etc. Usually, when we pick Isaac up to leave the house - he'd wake up. Thus is his bio-clock set: to wake up at about 7am everyday.
Unfortunately, his bio-clock got no "weekend" setting. So he wakes up at 7ish on weekends too! *sighz* But he's a sweetie. He'd play on his own: rolling around, flipping left right up down, playing with whatever toys he finds on his bed - usually Moo Moo and and the cloth/sponge blocks - and generally entertaining himself...

... till he gets bored. Then he calls out for us. hahahaha... But he's a joy to wake up to. He's always all smiles even when he just wakes up. That's my smiley Isaac for you :)
